Jessica Ashley Kahal’s Solo Flute Performance on “Danny Boy” On the Emotion-Charged Date of Sept. 11

Jessica Ashley Kahal is a young flutist who has many notable performances to her credit. One of them which would always remain special to her is her solo flute performance on “Danny Boy” on the emotion-charged date of Sept. 11. The event was a candlelight memorial for the September 11th attacks in her school’s amphitheater.

Besides Jessica Ashley Kahal’s heart-touching performance that left everyone present in the amphitheater overwhelmed, the combined choirs too performed on “America the Beautiful” and “This is My Country” directed by Pat Maddaford. Many students also spoke about their recollections of the Sept. 11th attacks a year prior.

Jessica Ashley Kahal has also performed (winter concert) at the Armstrong Theater as part of her high school Orchestra. The orchestra program included the Chamber Orchestra and the Symphonic Orchestra. Talking about the main highlights of the program, they were the Theme from Forrest Gump, Schumann’s Symphony No. 1, Movement IV, and the Mozart, Flute Concerto in D Major, Movement I. In the concert, Kahal was the featured flutist and a featured student conductor. She was highly lauded for doing a great job in both these roles.
