Jessica Ashley Kahal Recalls the Emotional Evening She Had at The Candlelight Memorial

Jessica Ashley Kahal has been into music since a very young age. As a part of her high school choir called ‘Varsity Voices’, she had the opportunity of touring Washington DC, New York City, and Philadelphia. Along with the other members of the woman’s jazz chorus called Here Comes Treble, Jessica performed ‘I’m Beginning to See the Light’ at the Kennedy Center. They were accompanied by the men’s Doo Wop group which has even been pictured singing in front of the NBC Studios in New York City.

One of Jessica’s fondest memories is from an emotional evening dedicated to the martyrs of September 11 attacks. In a candlelight memorial organized in the school’s amphitheater, combined choirs sang "America the Beautiful" and "This Is My Country", directed by Pat Maddaford. On that day, Jessica Ashley Kahal’s solo flute performance on ‘Danny Boy’ was followed by recollections from several students and left everyone quite emotional.

In addition to these performances, her high school Orchestra had also performed a winter concert at the Armstrong Theater. The program consisted of a Chamber Orchestra and a Symphonic Orchestra. Some of the most appreciated performances from the program include Theme from Forrest Gump, the Mozart, Movement I, and more. Notably, Jessica Ashley Kahal was chosen the featured flutist and also, the featured student conductor in the concert.
